To submit a grant application, please follow the steps described below:

Step One: Preliminary Application:

The preliminary application should include the following information:

  1. A short description of your organization. If you have previously received a grant from the Foundation, you may simply state "past recipient."
  2. A description of the project being funded.
  3. A proposed budget for the project.

The applicant will receive an automated email confirming the preliminary application was submitted successfully online.

Step Two: Final Application (By Invitation Only)

If your preliminary application is approved, you will be invited to submit a final application.

The final application should include the following information:

  1. A detailed description of your organization:

    • A summary of your organization's history, goals and principal accomplishments.
    • A list of your current Board of Directors and key staff.
    • If your organization has members, a brief description of the membership and the number of members.
    • A summary of your annual budget, including principal sources of operating support and unrestricted capital resources (endowment).
    • Evidence of your organization's current status as a public charity in good standing, such as a printout from the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search website showing your organization's EIN, legal name and deductibility status.

  2. A detailed description of the project being funded:

    • What specific goals and outcomes do you seek to accomplish?
    • How will you ensure that the project has a reasonable likelihood of success?
    • Where appropriate, please give a brief description of the scientific rationale for your project.
    • How does your project seek to "break new ground"?
    • Please provide a detailed breakdown of costs, including overhead.

  3. Evidence of your organization's capability to complete the project:

    • Who will be responsible for implementing the project, and what are their qualifications?
    • If the project depends on other sources of funding, will the project begin before the balance of funds has been raised?
    • Will a grant from the Foundation "make or break" the project?
    • How will you measure the project's success?
    • If your application is successful, your organization will be required to provide a detailed report on the project's implementation within one year of the grant. How will you comply with this requirement?

The final application must be submitted as follows:

  1. Please complete the online final application form.
  2. In addition, please also submit two paper copies of the final application and all attachments. Please do not use staples or bindings, and use paper clips or binder clips instead.

All applicants invited to submit a final application will be notified of the Trustees' decision in the following May. Successful applicants will receive a notification of the award and a grant check.
